In his loneliness Chairman Arafat, not having been praised by President Clinton as was Ehud Barak after the Camp David event, met with French President Chirac, just to be reprimanded against taking unilateral action with his intended September 13 declaration of Statehood.

Meanwhile Rabbi Ovadia and later on former Israeli Prime Minister Sharon gave the Palestinians good reason to be hateful in regards to Israel and so Arafat had little choice but to steer his people into another confrontation in order to stay on top; just like the other third world elder statesman, Fidel Castro has to when in troubles, in common with whom he has the longest term of service. 

Arafat is destined yet again to lead the Arabs into disappointment, having wasted the opportunity to lift the veil of their self-deception. In this job his is now alone since Nasser, Gadaffi, Saddam Hussein and the Mullahs have all failed - for the time being...
